A little about me

Hi, my name is Peter and I've been a self-employed handyman since 2020.

In 2017 when I was 17 years old, my brother and I took a side job for a few months helping a local contractor build and install trusses for our friend's barn. A year or so later I began working for him full time. It was a small company, about 2-4 employees for most of the time I worked there and I learned a lot about contracting and running a small business. At the beginning of 2020 I struck out on my own and I've been doing that ever since.

I got licensed in Utah in the spring of 2022 and in the summer of 2023 I moved up to Idaho.

I currently am based out of Twin Falls Idaho. I like to take small to medium sized projects, but if you need a larger remodeling project done I recommend hiring a contractor with a crew or managing the project yourself and hiring different contractors to complete each part. A word of caution though: contractors and project completion timelines are like water and oil, they don't usually mix very easily.

I like working for landlords who need maintenance and repairs done from time to time. I like fixing things and figuring things out. I like that I don't have to do the same thing day in and day out for months on end, which means I'm not really specialized in any one thing and I'm usually happy to try something new.

Here's a driveway repair project that I bid a little low having never done concrete patching before. But it turned out good and the customer was happy and I learned something new.

After I started advertising on Thumbtack, I found that they could send me appliance repair jobs. For the first few jobs the learning curve was pretty steep and I almost had to tell one customer: sorry I don't actually know how to fix this. But after successfully fixing five or ten appliances I started to become more confident and now my appliance repair is it's own side business.
